1Ōgaki — as the clam parts shell from flesh
其日の有まし等栽に筆とらせて寺にのこす路通も此みなとまで出むかひてみのゝ國へと伴なふ駒にたすけられて大垣の庄に入れば曾良も伊勢より來り合ひ越人も馬をはせて如行が家に入りあつまる前川子荊口父子その外したしき人々とぶらひて蘇生の者に逢ふがごとく且悅ひ且いたはる旅のものうさもいまだやまざるに長月六日になれば伊勢の遷宮拜まんとまた舟にのりて 蛤のふた見にわかれ行秋ぞ
I had Tōsai take up the brush and write out what had happened that day, and left it at the temple.
Rotsū too came out to meet me as far as this harbor, and went with me into the province of Mino. Helped along by a horse, I entered the district of Ōgaki, and Sora came from Ise and joined us, and Etsujin rode his horse there, and we all gathered at the house of Jokō. Zensenshi, and Keikō with his sons, and other close friends besides came calling, as though meeting a man brought back to life, rejoicing on the one hand and consoling on the other.
The weariness of the journey had not yet left me, but it had come to the sixth day of the ninth month, and so, meaning to worship at the rebuilding of the shrine at Ise, I boarded a boat again —
