Dongguk Isangguk Jip (Collected Works of Minister Yi of the Eastern Country) Former Collection, Book 7 The collected writings of Yi Gyubo of Goryeo, gathered and cut in woodblock by his son Yi Ham in 1241 and revised and enlarged by his grandson Yi Ikbae in 1251. It holds poems and rhapsodies, memorials and reports sent up to the king, records written for temples and pagodas, stele and tomb inscriptions, letters and prefaces, and the state letters that passed to and from the Mongols during the invasions. The Lay of King Dongmyeong, which sings the founder of Goguryeo, stands in volume 3 of the first collection, and the daily life of a man who called himself the White Cloud Layman — with his wine, his zither and his verse — fills the later collection. The book closes with the last poem he wrote as his eyes failed and he laid down the brush, and with the dirge and tomb inscription others made for him after his death.

記得香城締搆端。鑾輿曾此擁千官。苔侵篆額碑文暗。雨染紅泥壁畫殘。寶育臺含孤月冷。摩訶岬觸斷雲寒。巖僧見慣慵廻首。付與閑人自在看。

I remember that when Hyangseong (香城) was first framed and raised, the royal carriage once led a thousand officials here. Moss has invaded the seal-script brow, and the tablet's text is dim; rain has stained the red clay, and the wall paintings have faded. The Boyuk Terrace (寶育臺) holds the lonely moon in its mouth and is cold; Mahagap (摩訶岬) touches the broken clouds and is cold. The monk of the rocks, used to the sight, is too lazy even to turn his head, and leaves it to the idle man to look his fill.
