Dongguk Isangguk Jip (Collected Works of Minister Yi of the Eastern Country) Former Collection, Book 9 The collected writings of Yi Gyubo of Goryeo, gathered and cut in woodblock by his son Yi Ham in 1241 and revised and enlarged by his grandson Yi Ikbae in 1251. It holds poems and rhapsodies, memorials and reports sent up to the king, records written for temples and pagodas, stele and tomb inscriptions, letters and prefaces, and the state letters that passed to and from the Mongols during the invasions. The Lay of King Dongmyeong, which sings the founder of Goguryeo, stands in volume 3 of the first collection, and the daily life of a man who called himself the White Cloud Layman — with his wine, his zither and his verse — fills the later collection. The book closes with the last poem he wrote as his eyes failed and he laid down the brush, and with the dirge and tomb inscription others made for him after his death.
玉函封了蠅頭表。綺席聞吹鳳尾笙。宿醉昏昏馬頭睡。溪山十里夢中行。
The jade casket is sealed over the memorial in fly's-head script,
and on the figured mat I heard them blow the phoenix-tail reed organ.
Last night's wine still upon me, I dozed muzzily at the horse's head,
and went ten li of stream and hill within a dream.

This sets down the feast of some days past, at which the memorial was sealed.
此去長安二十郵。草平沙軟路悠悠。天門欲賀金雞赦。已覺眉頭喜氣浮。
From here to the capital is twenty posting stations;
the grass lies flat, the sand is soft, and the road goes on and on.
About to offer congratulation at Heaven's gate on the Golden Cock's amnesty,
already I feel the glad air floating at my brows' end.

莫言作郡身如繫。已喜賓天路不遙。何羨神仙王鄴令。雙鳧飛向漢宮朝。
Say not that holding a county is like having the body tied;
already I rejoice that the road to the palace is not far.
Why envy Wang Qiao (王喬), that immortal magistrate of Ye?
A pair of ducks goes flying toward the court of the Han palace.
