Dongguk Isangguk Jip (Collected Works of Minister Yi of the Eastern Country) Former Collection, Book 12 The collected writings of Yi Gyubo of Goryeo, gathered and cut in woodblock by his son Yi Ham in 1241 and revised and enlarged by his grandson Yi Ikbae in 1251. It holds poems and rhapsodies, memorials and reports sent up to the king, records written for temples and pagodas, stele and tomb inscriptions, letters and prefaces, and the state letters that passed to and from the Mongols during the invasions. The Lay of King Dongmyeong, which sings the founder of Goguryeo, stands in volume 3 of the first collection, and the daily life of a man who called himself the White Cloud Layman — with his wine, his zither and his verse — fills the later collection. The book closes with the last poem he wrote as his eyes failed and he laid down the brush, and with the dirge and tomb inscription others made for him after his death.
瑟瑟初疑瀉冷泉。濛濛還似起昏烟。高僧坐度山中臘。煮菜嘗茶不火煎。
Hissing and rushing, at first I thought a cold spring was pouring out; thick and clouding, it seems rather a dark mist rising. A lofty monk sits out the twelfth month in the mountains, boiling greens and tasting tea without kindling a fire to brew them.

Two poems.
未信硫黃浸水源。却疑暘谷浴朝暾。地偏幸免楊妃汙。過▣何妨暫試溫。
I cannot believe the talk that sulphur lies sunk at the water's source, and think rather that the morning sun is being bathed in Yanggu (暘谷). The place is remote and has happily escaped Yang Guifei's defiling, so what harm if a passing ▣ tries the warmth for a little?
