On the fifteenth I received the king's grace and was allowed to move to my home district of Hwangnyeo (黃驪縣). On the twelfth I reached Jukju (竹州) and lodged at Manseonsa (萬善寺), where I matched the rhymes of the poems of several gentlemen hung on the board十五日。

Dongguk Isangguk Jip (Collected Works of Minister Yi of the Eastern Country) Former Collection, Book 17 The collected writings of Yi Gyubo of Goryeo, gathered and cut in woodblock by his son Yi Ham in 1241 and revised and enlarged by his grandson Yi Ikbae in 1251. It holds poems and rhapsodies, memorials and reports sent up to the king, records written for temples and pagodas, stele and tomb inscriptions, letters and prefaces, and the state letters that passed to and from the Mongols during the invasions. The Lay of King Dongmyeong, which sings the founder of Goguryeo, stands in volume 3 of the first collection, and the daily life of a man who called himself the White Cloud Layman — with his wine, his zither and his verse — fills the later collection. The book closes with the last poem he wrote as his eyes failed and he laid down the brush, and with the dirge and tomb inscription others made for him after his death.
1First poem
I look out over the fields, and they break off at the sky's edge
The village plowing goes deep into the soil
The ground lies low, so a damp air soaks through
The hills stand near, so a thin cold seeps in
On the old wall, dust and earth-rain have covered its face
In the withered camphor tree, worms have eaten out the heart
My poem held the foretelling of it before
Fallen from office, I have indeed come back again
Interlinear notes 2
There are two poems. The poem written in reply while visiting this temple in the sinyu year is in volume 10.
The earlier reply poem had the line 「I wish to leave office and come seeking here again」.
2Second poem
To this old temple I came in days gone by
And now in my late years I have come back again
The rock was split and cleft by thunder and lightning
The hall stands sheer as though spirits had opened it
From the deep hollow the flying squirrels come out often
To the offering stand (生臺) the birds come of themselves
A lonely subject meeting with fine scenery
Means to leave, and lingers once and again
Interlinear notes 1
There is a rock split down the middle, and people say that thunder came down from heaven and cleft it.
