Memorial of Vice Chancellor Im (任平章) thanking for being admitted to the banquet held in the royal hall任平章謝御殿赴曲宴表
And so forth. Spreading out seats in a hall like heaven, you held a separate banquet ceremony, and even one who defiles the place of a councillor you included in the number of those graciously summoned. Withdrawing and thinking upon the glory of it, I am merely trembling to the utmost.
Reverently I consider that Your Sage Majesty takes heaven for your body and does nothing by force, and takes the Way for your model and honours stillness. Meeting a time when all the business of government was at leisure, you allowed a single day's roaming: of the nobles of the five ranks you summoned the royal kinsmen, yet no more than the near relations; and from the two departments you summoned the close councillors, yet they were but a few men.
One such as your servant is a vessel shallow as a peck and a pint, yet my office takes part in the pivot of the state. For the work of being the yeast in the brewing of wine, I am ashamed that I have not the worth of the minister of Yin; and in the song of eating the mugwort of the fields, I have presumptuously joined the ranks of the guests of Zhou.
Glad feeling was just then satisfied, and the wine pressed upon us was more and more. We bathed as though steeped in descending dew, and were enraptured listening to the music of heaven. Moved by your favour I grew easily drunk, and walked the road home held up by others. Quietly I consider that this extraordinary meeting is no common thing; though I spent this lowly life of mine, how should I repay it? And so forth.
