Jingbirok (A Record of Rebuke and Admonition) Book 3 — The Geunpok Collection A record left by Ryu Seong-ryong, Chief State Councillor, of what he saw with his own eyes after the Imjin War ended. Its title comes from the line, "I rebuke what is past, and take heed against troubles to come." He set down without excuse how the war began and what the court failed to do. His recommendation of Yi Sun-sin, the wrangling with the Ming army, and the suffering the people endured are all recorded as they were.

Jeongju lies closest to Guseong, and on the road the Ming troops pass this is the place where they are to halt; yet the grain in that district's storehouse is very scant. Now, unavoidably, only after the grain of Jeongju has first been filled can the Ming troops be supplied. Once Jeongju's grain is ample, it must then be divided and moved on to Seoncheon, Gwaksan, and such places; this may be done as the situation allows.

It is said that the people of the several districts have now gathered back in fair numbers; let the supply commissioner be told to have their magistrates find a way and carry the grain little by little. Also, the aide (從事官) Hong Jongnok (洪宗祿) is now at Changseong; would it not be well to send down in haste a written order that he hurry to Guseong, join his strength with the supply commissioner's, fix a day and have the grain carried, and then report the amount in full?
