Jingbirok (A Record of Rebuke and Admonition) Book 16 — The Military Headquarters Register A record left by Ryu Seong-ryong, Chief State Councillor, of what he saw with his own eyes after the Imjin War ended. Its title comes from the line, "I rebuke what is past, and take heed against troubles to come." He set down without excuse how the war began and what the court failed to do. His recommendation of Yi Sun-sin, the wrangling with the Ming army, and the suffering the people endured are all recorded as they were.

Bipagot (琵琶串) is of a very good lie. Though there are the people's fields on both sides, they are all marshy ground. If a wall and rampart are raised at the narrow neck to block the vital point, the people of the whole district will all flee the troubles within it, and the naval station too will surely be firm.

Now I hear what the magistrate of Namyang has said, that the people's feeling too is to have it so. This is the very chance. Let the Naval Commander talk the matter over again with the magistrate, and when the weather has grown a little warmer let him first fell the trees, and then wait for the ground to thaw and raise it separately with earth. The method of it has already been given out to the magistrate. If there is any point left unfinished, send up an officer who knows the business, to hear the order in person and go, and so make sure it comes to pass.
