1The five heavenly gods who stand apart
天地初發之時，於高天原成神名，天之御中主神。次高御産巢日神，次神産巢日神。此三柱神者，並獨神成坐而隱身也。次國稚如浮脂而久羅下那州多陀用弊流之時如葦牙因萌騰之物而成神名，宇摩志阿斯訶備比古遅神次天之常立神。此二柱神亦並獨神成坐而隱身也。上件五柱神者，別天神。
When heaven and earth first opened, the name of the god who came into being in Takamanohara (高天原) was Ame no Minakanushi no Kami (天之御中主神). Next was Takamimusuhi no Kami (高御産巢日神), and next Kamumusuhi no Kami (神産巢日神). These three gods all came into being alone, and then they hid their bodies.
Next, when the land was still young and was like floating fat and drifted about like a jellyfish, a god came into being out of a thing that shot up as a reed sprout shoots up. His name was Umashiashikabihikoji no Kami (宇摩志阿斯訶備比古遲神). Next was Ame no Tokotachi no Kami (天之常立神). These two gods also came into being alone, and then they hid their bodies.
The five gods above are the heavenly gods who stand apart (別天神).

次成神名，國之常立神；次，豊雲野神。此二柱神亦獨神成坐而隱身也。次成神名，宇比地迩神；次，妹須比智迩神。次，角杙神；次，妹活杙神。次，意富斗能地神；次，妹大斗乃弁神。次，於母陀流神；次，妹阿夜訶志古泥神。次，伊（耶）那岐神；次，妹伊耶那美神。上件自國之常立神以下、伊耶那美神以前，并稱神世七代。
The name of the god who came into being next was Kuni no Tokotachi no Kami (國之常立神). Next was Toyokumono no Kami (豐雲野神). These two gods also came into being alone, and then they hid their bodies.
The name of the god who came into being next was Uhijini no Kami (宇比地迩神), and his sister was Suhijini no Kami (須比智迩神). Next was Tsunogui no Kami (角杙神), and his sister Ikugui no Kami (活杙神). Next was Ohotonoji no Kami (意富斗能地神), and his sister Ohotonobe no Kami (大斗乃弁神). Next was Omodaru no Kami (於母陀流神), and his sister Ayakashikone no Kami (阿夜訶志古泥神). Next was Izanagi no Kami (伊耶那岐神), and his sister Izanami no Kami (伊耶那美神).
From Kuni no Tokotachi no Kami above down to Izanami no Kami, these together are called the seven generations of the age of the gods (神世七代).
