Ouyang Xiu and Song Qi · 1060 (Northern Song, 5th year of the Jiayou era) · China · 5 entries · 12,231 Chinese characters

The accounts of the Eastern Yi, written afresh a hundred years after the Jiu Tang Shu. Taizong's three plans and the whole course of the fighting at Ansi are told more vividly here; the account of Silla carries bone rank and the hwabaek, and sets after the tale of Jang Bogo and Jeongnyeon an appraisal that asks, "Who says there are no men among the Eastern Yi?" The account of Japan is the first to set down the line of the tennō in full.

5 entries and 56 paragraphs fully translated. The tenth book on the Eastern Yi shelf. The entries on Liugui (toward Kamchatka) and Danluo (Tamna) come with it.
