Chachaung is also called jachung (慈充). Kim Daemun said that in the speech of this land it means a shaman. The people of the world served the spirits through shamans and held sacrifice high, and so they feared and revered them, and in the end they came to call an elder jachung.

She is also called Lady Aru
2Historian's comment — from when is the first year counted
Kim Busik comments.
When a ruler ascends the throne, the first year is counted from the year after. The rule is set out in full in the Chunqiu, and it is a law the former kings fixed so that it could not be altered. The Yi xun (伊訓) says, "Cheng Tang had died, and it was the first year of Tai Jia." The Zhengyi (正義) says, "Cheng Tang had died, and that same year was the first year of Tai Jia."
Yet the Mengzi says, "Tang died. Tai Ding did not take the throne. Wai Bing was two years, Zhong Ren four years." One may suspect, then, that a slip is missing from the Shangshu, or that the account in the Zhengyi is mistaken.
Some say this. "In old times, when a ruler ascended the throne, some counted the first year from the month after and some from the year after. Counting the first year from the month after is the case where Cheng Tang died and it was the first year of Tai Jia. When the Mengzi says 'Tai Ding did not take the throne,' it means that Tai Ding died without taking the throne. As for Wai Bing being two years and Zhong Ren four years,
3Historian's comment — continued
it means that both were sons of Tai Ding and elder brothers of Tai Jia, and that one died two years after he was born and the other four years after he was born, so that Tai Jia was able to succeed Tang. The Shiji is wrong to take this Zhong Ren and Wai Bing straight off as two rulers.
By the first account, a ruler takes the throne in the year his predecessor died and calls it the first year, which is not right. By the second, one may say that the rite of the people of Shang has been grasped."
4First year — Nangnang surrounds Geumseong
In the first year, in autumn, the seventh month, the troops of Nangnang came and surrounded Geumseong in several rings. The king said to those about him, "The two sages have left the country, and I hold this place wrongly, raised up by the people of the country. I am in danger and afraid, as though I were crossing a stream. Now a neighboring country comes to raid us, and this is because I lack virtue. What should be done?" Those about him answered, "The enemy counts our time of mourning his good fortune and has sent out troops rashly. Heaven will surely not help him. There is nothing to fear." Nangnang thought the inside was left empty and came to attack Geumseong, and the danger was great. At night a shooting star fell on the enemy camp. The host took fright and drew back, and they camped on the bank of the Alcheon. There they built twenty heaps of stones and left.
