Samguk Sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) Annals of Silla The oldest surviving history of Korea. It is made up of the annals of Silla, Goguryeo and Baekje, together with the treatises, the tables and the biographies. Kim Busik set his own judgments here and there in passages marked as his comment, so what the compiler doubted and what he rebuked stands there still.

1King Jinji ascends the throne

眞智王立。諱舍輪,眞興王次子。母,思道夫人;妃,知道夫人。太子早卒,故眞智立。

King Jinji ascended the throne. His name was Saryun (舍輪), and he was the second son of King Jinheung. His mother was Lady Sado, and his queen was Lady Jido. The crown prince had died early, and so Jinji ascended the throne.

2First year — Geochilbu is given the affairs of the state

元年,以伊飡居柒夫爲上大等,委以國事。

In the first year, Geochilbu, of the rank of ichan, was made sangdaedeung and given charge of the affairs of the state.

3Second year — Baekje is beaten north of Ilseon

二年,春二月,王親祀神宮,大赦。冬十月,百濟侵西邊州郡,命伊飡世宗出師,擊破之於一善北,斬獲三千七百級。築內利西城。

In the second year, in spring, the second month, the king sacrificed in person at the Singung and gave a great amnesty. In winter, the tenth month, Baekje raided the provinces and commanderies of the western border. Sejong, of the rank of ichan, was commanded to send out an army, and he struck them and beat them north of Ilseon, and three thousand seven hundred heads were cut down and taken. Naeriseoseong was built.

4Third year — an envoy is sent to Chen

三年,秋七月,遣使於陳以獻方物。侵百濟閼也山城。

In the third year, in autumn, the seventh month, an envoy was sent to Chen, and the products of the land were presented. Aryasanseong of Baekje was attacked.

5Fourth year — the king dies

四年,春二月,百濟築熊峴城、松述城,以梗䔉山城、麻知峴城、內利西城之路。秋七月十七日,王薨。諡曰。眞智,葬于永敬寺北。

In the fourth year, in spring, the second month, Baekje built Unghyeonseong and Songsulseong, and so blocked the roads to Sansanseong, Majihyeonseong and Naeriseoseong. In autumn, on the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the king died. His posthumous name was given as Jinji (眞智), and he was buried north of Yeonggyeongsa.
