King Sinmu神武王
1King Sinmu ascends the throne
King Sinmu ascended the throne. His name was Ujing (祐徵). He was the son of Gyunjeong the sangdaedeung, a grandson of King Wonseong the Great, and the cousin of King Huigang. Yejing and the others had already made the inner palace clean, and they received him with due rites, and he ascended the throne.
His grandfather Yeyeong the ichan was raised after his death to the title of King Hyegang the Great, and his father to that of King Seongdeok the Great; his mother Lady Jingyo of the Bak clan was made Grand Queen Heonmok; and his son Gyeongeung was set up as crown prince. Gungbok, the daesa of Cheonghaejin, was invested as commissioner of the Gamui army and given a real fief of two thousand households.
Ihong was afraid. He left his wife and children and fled to the hills and woods, and the king sent horsemen who followed him and took him and killed him.
In autumn, the seventh month, an envoy was sent to Tang, and slaves were sent to the jiedushi of Ziqing. When the Emperor heard of it, he had pity on people from a far country and by edict had them sent back to their own land.
The king lay sick, and in a dream Ihong shot an arrow and struck him in the back. When he woke, a boil broke out on his back. On the twenty-third day of that month he died. His posthumous name was given as Sinmu (神武), and he was buried northwest of Mount Jehyeong.

2Historian's comment — those who killed their lord and set themselves up are written down as they were
Kim Busik comments.
In the discourse of Ouyangzi it is said. "Duke Huan of Lu killed Duke Yin and set himself up. Duke Xuan killed Zichi and set himself up. Duke Li of Zheng drove out the heir Hu and set himself up. Gongsun Piao of Wei drove out his lord Kan and set himself up. In the Chunqiu the sage did not cut off any of them from being rulers, but handed down the facts of each so that later ages might believe them. Then the guilt of these four rulers cannot be covered over, and the doing of evil among men will come near to ceasing."
In Silla, Eonseung killed Aejang and ascended the throne; Kim Myeong killed Huigang and ascended the throne; Ujing killed Minae and ascended the throne. Now the facts of all of them are written down, and this too is the intent of the Chunqiu.
