1Turning their spears around to kill the king

King Silseong, the eighteenth king.

In the ninth year of Yixi, a gyechuk year, the great bridge of Pyongyang Province was completed.〔This is probably South Pyongyang, the present Yangju.〕

The king disliked the fact that Nulji, the crown prince of the former king, was held in high regard for his virtue, and meant to do him harm.

He asked for Goguryeo soldiers and had them pretend to welcome Nulji.

The Goguryeo men saw Nulji's worthy conduct, turned their spears around, and killed the king. They set up Nulji as king and left.
