The Country of Lanbo
The country of Lanbo is more than a thousand li around. To the north it has the Snow Mountains at its back, and on three sides are the Black Ridges. The great capital city of the country is more than ten li around. For some hundreds of years the royal line has been broken, and the powerful have striven by force, so that there is no great ruler. Of late it has come under the country of Jiabishi. The land is fit for the plain rice, and sugar cane is plentiful. Groves and trees are many, but fruit is scarce. The season grows warm, with a little frost and no snow. The custom of the country is rich and merry, and the people love singing. Their will and nature are timid, and their hearts hold deceit. They cheat and mock one another, and none is put forward and honored. Their bodies are small, and their movements light and hasty. Most wear white cotton, and what they wear is fresh and well adorned. There are more than ten monasteries and few monks, and all of them study the Law and teaching of the Greater Vehicle. There are several tens of temples of the gods, and the followers of other ways are very many.
Going southeast from here more than a hundred li, crossing a great ridge and passing a great river, one comes to the country of Najieluohe.
