The kingdom of Dandan
1The kingdom of Dandan
As for the kingdom of Dandan (丹丹國), in the second year of Zhongdatong its king sent an envoy to present a memorial, saying: "Prostrate we have learned that the holy lord, with utmost virtue and benevolent rule, believes in the Three Treasures and holds them weighty, so that the Buddha's law rises and shines, the monks gather in throngs, the works of the dharma (法事) grow daily, and majesty is ordered and grave; and that the men of name at court hold the affairs of the kingdom and pity the living with compassion, so that the eight directions and the six quarters all submit. Your transforming rule neighbors upon the heavens, and words cannot tell it. We cannot contain our joy, and it is as if for a moment we were permitted to see your honored feet. We respectfully present two ivory images and two pagodas, and offer huoqi pearls, jibei and incenses and medicines of many kinds." In the first year of Datong he sent an envoy again and offered gold, silver, glass, precious things of many kinds, incenses and medicines and other goods.
