Jingbirok (A Record of Rebuke and Admonition) Book 5 — The Geunpok Collection A record left by Ryu Seong-ryong, Chief State Councillor, of what he saw with his own eyes after the Imjin War ended. Its title comes from the line, "I rebuke what is past, and take heed against troubles to come." He set down without excuse how the war began and what the court failed to do. His recommendation of Yi Sun-sin, the wrangling with the Ming army, and the suffering the people endured are all recorded as they were.

More than half of the gunners and the swordsmen of the Military Training Directorate have gone out as well, so the troops left within the capital are few. May the local-unit troops of Nowon in Yangju and those parts be joined with the hundred and fifty men of the detached camp at Nuwon and set to take their turns at the left camp newly placed near Geoncheon-dong, and the hundred and fifty or sixty local-unit troops of Goyang, Paju and Gyoha be set to hold the detached camp at the Han River, so as to serve for use in a time of urgency?
