Jingbirok (A Record of Rebuke and Admonition) Book 6 — The Record of Jinsa A record left by Ryu Seong-ryong, Chief State Councillor, of what he saw with his own eyes after the Imjin War ended. Its title comes from the line, "I rebuke what is past, and take heed against troubles to come." He set down without excuse how the war began and what the court failed to do. His recommendation of Yi Sun-sin, the wrangling with the Ming army, and the suffering the people endured are all recorded as they were.

In Seongcheon (成川), Sangwon (祥原), Gangdong (江東), Jasan (慈山), Suncheon (順川), Eunsan (殷山), Gaecheon (价川), Yeongbyeon (寧邊), Huicheon (熙川), Unsan (雲山), Yeongwon (寧遠), Deokcheon (德川), Maengsan (孟山) and those parts east of Pyeongyang, command does not reach and the magistrates have fled and scattered; the gathering of them in is urgent by the hour.

To have one high minister of wisdom and judgment hasten there without regard for day or night, call the troops together and bring them out east of Pyeongyang, while the great host presses in from the north; and at the same time, in good season, to make it known to Hwanghae, Gangwon and the country south of Gyeonggi so that ambushes may be set in place after place to cut the enemy's roads — this is the greatest plan of the present day. Therefore your servant ventures thus to submit it again.
