Hastened Report on Our Troops Closing with the Enemy and Fighting馳。啓我軍與賊接戰事狀
昨日辰末李元翼傳通內左遊擊朴錫命馳人進告內倭賊或云二十餘名或云四十餘名後運則不得的知釜山院向來出送伏兵等接戰云云故繼援軍鱗次入送再通內左斥候將金應瑊馳報內諸將等幷爲追逐至咸福院碧潼土兵孔玉柱進告內彼賊先鋒三十餘名投劒又捨統筩曰我輩欲向我地汝等亦捨弓矢來聽我言云而我軍無數發射直進賊所則賊兵次次遁背云故繼援軍全數入送大軍亦前進計料三通內三領伏兵將李元馳告內我軍搏擊則彼賊退屯種松處四通內右部將馳人進告內倭賊等遁還入城未及追捕云云故其辭緣爲先馳啓昨日斬馘二級幷爲監封上送
In the notice Yi Wonik (李元翼) sent on toward the end of the hour of Jin yesterday, the Left Mobile Corps Commander Bak Seokmyeong (朴錫命) had sent a man hurrying to report, "The Japanese enemy are said by some to be twenty-odd and by others forty-odd, and the host coming behind cannot be certainly known; they have closed and are fighting with the ambush parties sent out to Busanwon (釜山院) earlier" — and so troops to back them from behind were sent in one lot after another.
In the second notice, the Left Scouting Commander Kim Eunggyeom (金應瑊) came hurrying to report, "The several commanders pursued them together and reached Hambogwon (咸福院), where the Byeokdong (碧潼) local soldier Gong Okju (孔玉柱) reported, 'Thirty-odd of the enemy's vanguard threw down their swords and cast away their muskets as well, saying, "We mean to go to our own land; do you too throw down your bows and arrows, come, and hear my words." But our troops shot at them without number and advanced straight to where the enemy were, whereupon the enemy soldiers withdrew bit by bit and showed their backs'" — and so the troops to back them from behind were sent in without reserve, and it was planned that the main force too would advance.
In the third notice, the Samnyeong ambush commander Yi Won (李元) came hurrying to report, "Our troops lashed at them and struck, whereupon the enemy fell back and encamped at Jongsongcheo (種松處)."
In the fourth notice, the Right Vanguard Commander sent a man hurrying to report, "The Japanese enemy fled and went back into the walled town, and we could not pursue and take them in time."
Your servant reports these circumstances with haste, for now. The two heads taken yesterday are sealed up and sent on together.
