Jewang Ungi (Rhymed Chronicle of Emperors and Kings) Lower Book From Pangu to the Jurchen Jin, from Dangun to Goryeo — an epic that weaves the two histories, of China and of the East, into verse. Declaring that there is a world apart in Liaodong, it sets the history of Korea beside that of China, and it is one of the first histories to sing of Dangun as the founding ancestor of every state on the Korean peninsula. The author's own one hundred and ninety-seven interlinear notes are carried with it.

Interlinear notes 1

In this poem the last year of the former ruler is in every case taken as the first year of the ruler who came after. Someone objected, "You set out events in seven-character lines all through your Jewang ungi, yet when you come to this dynasty you use five-character lines. Why is that? Does it point to something?" The answer was, "The making of poems began with the five-character line and ended with the seven-character line. Now the intent of this work first arose with this dynasty, so it is closed with the form in which the making began, that is the five-character line. This is the intent with which Confucius edited the Chunqiu."

15End of the lower volume

帝王韻紀 下卷 終.
