Sukunabikona comes
1Sukunabikona comes, and the god of Mount Mimoro comes
When Ohokuninushi no Kami was at the cape of Miho (御大) in Izumo, a god came riding the crests of the waves in a boat of heavenly kagaimo, clothed in the skin of a goose flayed off whole.
He asked the god his name, but the god did not answer. He asked the gods who were with him, but they all said that they did not know. Then the toad Tanigugu (多迩具久) said, "Kuebiko (久延毗古) will surely know this one."
So he called Kuebiko at once and asked him, and Kuebiko answered and said, "This is Sukunabikona no Kami (少名毗古那神), the child of Kamumusuhi no Kami."
So he told this to Kamumusuhi no Mioya no Mikoto, who answered and said, "This is truly my child. Among my children he is the one who 'kukishi' — slipped through between my fingers. So become brothers with Ashiharashikoo no Mikoto, and make that land and make it firm."
So from then on Ohoanamuji and Sukunabikona, the two gods, stood side by side and made this land and made it firm. Afterward Sukunabikona no Kami crossed over to the land of Tokoyo (常世國).
The one called Kuebiko, who made known and told of that Sukunabikona no Kami, is the scarecrow of the mountain fields today. This god cannot walk on his feet, yet he is a god who knows all things under heaven.
Then Ohokuninushi no Kami grieved and said, "How can I make this land alone? What god can make this land together with me?"
At that time there was a god who came drawing near, lighting up the sea. That god said, "If you serve me well before me, I will make it and complete it together with you. If not, the land will be hard to complete."
Ohokuninushi no Kami said, "Then how shall I serve you?" He answered and said, "Set me up and worship me on the mountain to the east, within the green hedge of Yamato."
This is the god who dwells on Mount Mimoro.

鵝皮 — the source text has 鵝, a goose. Some take it for a mistake for 蛾, a moth, and read “moth skin.” ― translator
