King Seondeok (宣德)宣德王
1King Seondeok ascends the throne
宣德王立。姓金氏，諱良相，奈勿王十世孫也。父，海飡孝芳；母，金氏四炤夫人，聖德王之女也；妃，具足夫人，角干良品之女也。大赦。追封父爲開聖大王，尊母金氏爲貞懿太后，妻爲王妃。拜伊飡敬信爲上大等，阿飡義恭爲侍中。改御龍省奉御爲卿，又改卿爲監。
King Seondeok ascended the throne. His surname was Kim and his name was Yangsang (良相), and he was a descendant of King Naemul in the tenth generation. His father was Hyobang of the rank of haechan. His mother was of the house of Kim, Lady Saso, the daughter of King Seongdeok. His queen was Lady Gujok, the daughter of Yangpum of the rank of gakgan.
There was a great amnesty. The king raised his father in title to Great King Gaeseong, honored his mother of the house of Kim as Queen Mother Jeongui, and made his wife queen. Gyeongsin of the rank of ichan was appointed sangdaedeung, and Uigong of the rank of achan sijung. The bong-eo of the Eoryongseong was renamed gyeong, and the gyeong was renamed gam.

2Second year — the ju and districts south of the Paegang are comforted
二年，春二月，親祀神宮。秋七月，發使安撫浿江南州郡。
In the second year, in spring, in the second month, the king sacrificed in person at the Singung. In autumn, the seventh month, envoys were sent out to comfort the ju and districts south of the Paegang.
3Third year — households are moved to Paegangjin
三年，春閏正月，遣使入唐朝貢。二月，王巡幸漢山州，移民戸於浿江鎭。秋七月，大閲於始林之原。
In the third year, in spring, in the intercalary first month, an envoy was sent into Tang to offer tribute. In the second month, the king went about Hansanju and moved households of the people to Paegangjin. In autumn, the seventh month, there was a great review of the troops on the plain of Sirim.
4Fourth year — Chesin is made gunju of Daegokjin
四年，春正月，以阿飡體信爲大谷鎭軍主。二月，京都雪三尺。
In the fourth year, in spring, in the first month, Chesin of the rank of achan was made gunju of Daegokjin. In the second month, snow fell three cheok deep in the capital.
5Fifth year — the king wishes to give up the throne
五年，夏四月，王欲遜位。群臣三上表諫，乃止。
In the fifth year, in summer, in the fourth month, the king wished to give up the throne. The many subjects sent up memorials three times to hold him back, and so he stopped.
6Sixth year — King Seondeok dies
六年，春正月，唐德宗遣戸部郞中蓋塤，持節冊命，王爲檢校太尉鷄林州刺史寧海軍使新羅王。是月，王寢疾彌留。乃下詔曰：「寡人本惟菲薄，無心大寶，難逃推戴，作其即位。居位以來，年不順成，民用窮困，此皆德不符民望，政未合天心。常欲禪讓，退居于外，群官百辟，每以誠止，未果如意，因循至今。忽遘疾疹，不寤不興。死生有命，顧復何恨？死後，依佛制燒火，散骨東海！」至十三日薨，諡曰宣德。
In the sixth year, in spring, in the first month, Dezong of Tang sent Gai Xun, director of the Bureau of Revenue, bearing the tally and the patent of investiture, and made the king inspecting grand commandant, prefect of Gyerimju, commissioner of the Yeonghae Army and King of Silla.
In that month the king lay sick and did not mend for a long while, and so he handed down an edict, saying:
"I was of myself a thin and slight man with no heart for the great seat, but it was hard to escape being pushed forward and upheld, and so I came to the throne. Since I have been on the seat the years have not ripened well and the people have been in want. All this is because my virtue has not matched what the people hoped, and my governing has not met the heart of Heaven. I have always wished to yield the throne and withdraw to live outside, but the many officials and the men of rank have always held me back with their earnest care, so that I could not do as I wished, and I have gone on putting it off until today. Of a sudden I have met with sickness, and I do not wake and do not rise. Dying and living have their appointed lot, and looking back, what regret should there be? After I die, burn me with fire according to the law of the Buddha, and scatter my bones in the Eastern Sea."
He died when the thirteenth day came. His posthumous name was Seondeok (宣德).
