King Hyogong孝恭王
1King Hyogong ascends the throne
孝恭王立。諱嶢,憲康王之庶子。母,金氏。大赦。增文武百官爵一級。
King Hyogong ascended the throne. His name was Yo (嶢), and he was a son of King Heongang by a concubine. His mother was of the house of Kim. There was a great amnesty. The ranks of the civil and military officials were raised by one degree.
2Second year — Gung Ye makes his capital at Songak-gun
二年,春正月,尊母金氏爲義明王太后,以舒弗邯俊興爲上大等,阿飡繼康爲侍中。秋七月,弓裔取浿西道,及漢山州管內三十餘城。遂都於松岳郡。
In the second year, in spring, the first month, his mother of the house of Kim was raised in title to Queen Mother Uimyeong, Junheung the seobulhan was made sangdaedeung, and Gyegang of the rank of achan was made sijung.
In autumn, the seventh month, Gung Ye took the Paeseo circuit and some thirty walled towns within the charge of Hansanju, and then he made his capital at Songak-gun.
3Third year — the soldiers of Yanggil break
三年,春三月,納伊飡乂謙之女爲妃。秋七月,北原賊帥梁吉,忌弓裔貳己,與國原等十餘城主,謀攻之。進軍於非惱城下。梁吉兵潰走。
In the third year, in spring, the third month, he took the daughter of Yegyeom of the rank of ichan and made her queen.
In autumn, the seventh month, Yanggil, the brigand chief of Bugwon, was wary of Gung Ye for holding a second heart toward him, and with the lords of Gugwon and some ten other walled towns he plotted to strike him and pushed his army forward below the walls of Binoeseong. The soldiers of Yanggil broke and fled.
4Fourth year — Cheonggil and Sinhwon go over to Gung Ye
四年,冬十月,國原、靑州、槐壤賊帥淸吉、莘萱等,擧城投於弓裔。
In the fourth year, in winter, the tenth month, Cheonggil and Sinhwon and others, the brigand chiefs of Gugwon, Cheongju and Goeyang, took up their walled towns and went over to Gung Ye.
5Fifth year — Gung Ye calls himself king
五年,弓裔稱王。秋八月,後百濟王甄萱,攻大耶城,不下。移軍錦城之南奪掠沿邊部落而歸。
In the fifth year, Gung Ye called himself king.
In autumn, the eighth month, Gyeon Hwon, king of Later Baekje, attacked Daeyaseong but did not bring it down. He moved his army to the south of Geumseong, and he seized and plundered the villages along the shore and went back.
6Sixth year — Hyojong is made sijung
六年,春三月,降霜。以大阿飡孝宗爲侍中。
In the sixth year, in spring, the third month, frost fell. Hyojong of the rank of daeachan was made sijung.
7Seventh year — Gung Ye would move his capital
七年,弓裔欲移都,到鐵圓、斧壤,周覽山水。
In the seventh year, Gung Ye wished to move his capital, and he came to Cheorwon and Buyang and looked all about at the mountains and the waters.
8Eighth year — Gung Ye names his country Majin
八年,弓裔設百官,依新羅制。國號摩震,年號武泰元年。浿江道十餘州縣,降於弓裔。
In the eighth year, Gung Ye set up the hundred offices, and he followed the system of Silla. He named his country Majin (摩震), and the year name he called the first year of Mutae (武泰). Some ten ju and districts of the Paegang circuit came over to Gung Ye.

9Ninth year — he commands that the walls be held fast
九年,春二月,星隕如雨。夏四月,降霜。秋七月,弓裔移都於鐵圓。八月弓裔行兵,侵奪我邊邑,以至竹嶺東北。王聞疆埸日削,甚患。然,力不能禦命諸城主,愼勿出戰,堅壁固守。
In the ninth year, in spring, the second month, stars fell like rain. In summer, the fourth month, frost fell. In autumn, the seventh month, Gung Ye moved his capital to Cheorwon.
In the eighth month Gung Ye moved his soldiers and raided and took the border towns of Silla, and came as far as the northeast of Jungnyeong. The king heard that his land was being pared away day by day and was greatly troubled, but he had not the strength to hold Gung Ye off, and so he commanded the lords of the several walled towns to take care not to go out and fight, but to make the walls firm and hold them fast.
10Tenth year — Kim Munul comes back as envoy of investiture
十年,春正月,以波珍飡金成爲上大等。三月,前入唐及第金文蔚,官至工部員外郞沂王府諮議叅軍,充冊命使而還。自夏四月至五月,不雨。
In the tenth year, in spring, the first month, Kim Seong of the rank of pajinchan was made sangdaedeung.
In the third month Kim Munul, who had gone into the Tang before and passed the examinations, and whose office had come as far as vice director of the Board of Works and adviser and administrator in the household of the Prince of Yi, came back as envoy of investiture.
From the fourth month of summer until the fifth month it did not rain.
11Eleventh year — the land south of Ilseon commandery is taken by Gyeon Hwon
十一年,春夏無雨。一善郡以南十餘城,盡爲甄萱所取。
In the eleventh year, in spring and summer, there was no rain. Some ten walled towns south of Ilseon commandery were all taken by Gyeon Hwon.
12Twelfth year — hail falls
十二年,春二月,星孛于東。三月,隕霜。夏四月,雨雹。
In the twelfth year, in spring, the second month, a comet came out in the east. In the third month frost fell. In summer, the fourth month, hail fell.
13Thirteenth year — Gung Ye brings Jindo commandery to surrender
十三年,夏六月,弓裔命將領兵舡,降珍島郡,又破皐夷島城。
In the thirteenth year, in summer, the sixth month, Gung Ye commanded his general to lead warships and bring Jindo commandery to surrender, and he also broke the walls of Goido.
14Fourteenth year — Gyeon Hwon surrounds the walls of Naju
十四年,甄萱躬率步騎三千,圍羅州城,經旬不解。弓裔發水軍,襲擊之,萱引軍而退。
In the fourteenth year, Gyeon Hwon himself led three thousand foot and horse and surrounded the walls of Naju, and ten days passed and he did not loose them. Gung Ye sent out his water forces and fell upon them, and Hwon drew off his army and withdrew.
15Fifteenth year — Gung Ye changes the name of his country to Taebong
十五年,春正月丙戌朔,日有食之。王嬖於賤妾,不恤政事。大臣殷影諫,不從,影執其妾,殺之。弓裔改國號泰封,年號水德萬歲。
In the fifteenth year, in spring, on the first day byeongsul of the first month, the sun was eclipsed.
The king doted on a lowborn concubine and did not care for the affairs of government. Eun Yeong the great minister remonstrated with him, but he did not follow it, and Yeong seized that concubine and killed her.
Gung Ye changed the name of his country to Taebong (泰封) and the year name to Sudeok manse (水德萬歲).
16Sixteenth year — King Hyogong dies
十六年,夏四月,王薨。諡曰孝恭,葬于師子寺北。
In the sixteenth year, in summer, the fourth month, the king died. He was given the posthumous name Hyogong (孝恭), and he was buried north of Sajasa.
