Within the Seas: North海內北經
海內西北陬以東者。
These are the things from the northwestern corner within the seas eastward.
匈奴、開題之國、列人之國並在西北。貳負之臣曰危，危與貳負殺窫窳，帝乃梏之疏屬之山，桎其右足，反縛兩手，繫之山上木。在開題西北。
The Xiongnu, the land of Kaiti, and the land of Lieren all lie in the northwest. A vassal of Erfu was called Wei, and Wei joined Erfu in killing Yayu. The High God then bound him on Mount Shushu. He put a fetter on his right foot and tied his two hands behind him, and he fastened him to a tree on the mountain. It lies northwest of Kaiti.
有人曰大行伯，把戈。其東有犬封國。貳負之尸在大行伯東。
There is a man called Daxingbo, and he holds a dagger-axe. East of him there is the land of Quanfeng. The corpse of Erfu lies east of Daxingbo.
犬封國曰犬戎國，狀如犬。有一女子，方跪進柸食。有文馬，縞身朱鬛，目若黃金，名曰吉量，乘之壽千歲。
The land of Quanfeng is also called the land of Quanrong, and they are shaped like dogs. There is a woman there who kneels and offers a cup and food. There is a patterned horse with a white body and a red mane, and its eyes are like gold. It is called jiliang, and one who rides it lives a thousand years.
鬼國在貳負之尸北，為物人面而一目。一曰貳負神在其東，為物人面蛇身。蜪犬如犬，青，食人從首始。
The land of Gui lies north of the corpse of Erfu. In form they have human faces and a single eye. One account says that the god Erfu lies east of it, and that in form he has a human face and the body of a snake. The taoquan is like a dog and is green, and it eats people, beginning with the head.
窮奇狀如虎，有翼，食人從首始，所食被髮，在蜪犬北。一曰從足。
The qiongqi is shaped like a tiger and has wings. It eats people, beginning with the head, and the one eaten wears his hair loose. It lies north of the taoquan. One account says it begins with the feet.
帝堯臺、帝嚳臺、帝丹朱臺、帝舜臺，各二臺，臺四方，在昆侖東北。
The terrace of Yao, the terrace of Diku, the terrace of Danzhu, and the terrace of Shun are two terraces each. The terraces are square, and they lie northeast of Kunlun.
大蠭其狀如螽。朱蛾其狀如蛾。
The great bee is shaped like a locust. The red ant is shaped like a moth.
蟜，其為人虎文，脛有𦜹。在窮奇東。一曰，狀如人。昆侖虛北所有。
The jiao has the markings of a tiger, and there are calves on its shins. It lies east of the qiongqi. One account says it is shaped like a person. It is one of the things north of Kunlunxu.
闒非，人面而獸身，青色。
Tafei has a human face and the body of a beast, and its color is green.
據比之尸，其為人折頸被髮，無一手。
The corpse of Jubi has a broken neck and loose hair, and it is missing one hand.
環狗，其為人獸首人身。一曰蝟狀如狗，黃色。
The huangou has the head of a beast and the body of a person. One account says that the hedgehog is shaped like a dog and is yellow.
𥘯，其為物人身黑首從目。
The mei has the body of a person and a black head, and its eyes are set upright.
戎，其為人人首三角。
The rong has a human head with three horns.
林氏國有珍獸，大若虎，五采畢具，尾長于身，名曰騶吾，乘之日行千里。
In the land of the Lin clan there is a rare beast, as big as a tiger, with all five colors complete. Its tail is longer than its body, and it is called zouwu. One who rides it goes a thousand li in a day.
昆侖虛南所，有氾林方三百里。
South of Kunlunxu there is Fanlin, three hundred li square.
從極之淵深三百仞，維冰夷恒都焉。冰夷人面，乘兩龍。一曰忠極之淵。
The pool of Congji is three hundred fathoms deep, and only Bingyi dwells there always. Bingyi has a human face and rides two dragons. One account calls it the pool of Zhongji.
陽汙之山，河出其中；淩門之山，河出其中。
This is Mount Yangwu, and the Yellow River comes out from within it. This is Mount Lingmen, and the Yellow River comes out from within it.
王子夜之尸，兩手、兩股、胷、首、齒，皆斷異處。
The corpse of Prince Ye has its two hands, its two thighs, its breast, its head, and its teeth all cut off and laid apart.
大澤方百里，羣鳥所生及所解，在鴈門北。
There is a great marsh a hundred li square. It is where the many birds are born and where they moult. It lies north of Yanmen.
鴈門山，鴈出其閒。在高柳北。
This is Mount Yanmen. Wild geese come out between its peaks. It lies north of Gaoliu.
高柳在代北。
Gaoliu lies north of Dai.
舜妻登比氏生宵明、燭光，處河大澤，二女之靈能照此所方百里。一曰登北氏。
Dengbi, the wife of Shun, bore Xiaoming and Zhuguang, and they lived at the great marsh of the Yellow River. The power of the two daughters could light up a hundred li square in that place. One account calls her Dengbei.
東胡在大澤東。
Donghu lies east of the great marsh.
夷人在東胡東。
The Yi people lie east of Donghu.
貊國在漢水東北。地近于燕，滅之。
The land of Maek lies northeast of the Han River. Its land was near to Yan, and Yan destroyed it.
孟鳥在貊國東北，其鳥文赤、黃、青，東鄉。
The mengniao lies northeast of the land of Maek. That bird is marked with red, yellow, and green, and it faces east.
