Samguk Yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) Marvels, Part One A collection of tales of the Three Kingdoms period, compiled by Iryeon, a monk of Goryeo. He gathered the stories the official histories had cast aside. It is the oldest book that carries the myth of Dangun.

1The thousand li of sea south of Daifang is called the Hanhae

南帶方曹魏時始置南帶方郡〔今南原府.〕故云.帶方之南海水千里曰瀚海〔後漢建安中以馬韓南荒地爲帶方郡,倭韓遂屬是也.〕.

South Daifang.

In the time of Cao Wei (曹魏), South Daifang Commandery〔This is the present Namwon Prefecture.〕 was first set up, and so it is called that.

The thousand li of sea south of Daifang is called the Hanhae (瀚海).

〔In the Jian'an era of Later Han, the wild land south of Mahan was made Daifang Commandery. This is how Wa and Han came at last to belong to it.〕
