Samguk Yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) Marvels, Part One A collection of tales of the Three Kingdoms period, compiled by Iryeon, a monk of Goryeo. He gathered the stories the official histories had cast aside. It is the oldest book that carries the myth of Dangun.

1The speech of the Qin exiles remained

Jinhan.〔Also written Jinhan (秦韓).〕

The Book of Later Han says this.

"The elders of Jinhan say of themselves: 'Exiles from Qin came to the country of Han, and Mahan cut off land on its eastern border and gave it to them. They call one another do (徒), which is like the speech of Qin, and so it is sometimes named Jinhan (秦韓).'

There are twelve small states, each of ten thousand households, and each is called a state."

Also, Choe Chiwon says: "The people of Jinhan were originally men of Yan who fled there. So they took the name of the Zhuo River (涿水) and called the towns where they lived Satak, Jeomtak, and so on."

〔In the speech of the Silla people the sound of 'tak' is read 'do'. Now it is also written Saryang, and 'ryang' too is read 'do'.〕
