King Jicheollo.

King Jicheollo, the twenty-second king, had the surname Gim and the name Jidaero, or Jidoro. His posthumous title was Jijeung (智證), and posthumous titles began here.

Also, calling the king maripgan in the native tongue began with this king.

The king ascended the throne in the second year of Yongyuan, a gyeongjin year.〔Some say a sinsa year, which would be the third year.〕

The king's private parts were one cheok and five chi long, so it was hard to find him a fitting mate. He sent envoys by three roads to search.

An envoy came to Moryang Division. Under an old tree in winter, two dogs were biting at a lump the size of a drum, tearing at it from both ends.

He asked the villagers, and a little girl told him, "The daughter of the minister's house in this division was washing clothes here, hid in the woods, and left it."

He found the house and looked, and her height was seven cheok and five chi.

He reported the whole matter, and the king sent a carriage to bring her into the palace and made her empress. All the ministers offered congratulations.

Also, in the eastern sea off Aseulla Province〔The present Myeongju.〕, two days' sail with a fair wind, there is Ureung Island〔Now written Ureung (羽陵).〕.

Its circumference is twenty-six thousand seven hundred and thirty paces.

The islanders trusted in the deep water around them and were proud, and would not act as subjects.

The king ordered Bak Ijong (朴伊宗), of the rank of ichan, to lead troops and attack them.

Bak Ijong loaded lions made of wood onto great ships and threatened them, saying, "If you do not surrender, I will let these beasts loose."

The islanders were afraid and surrendered.

He was rewarded and made head of that province.
