Samguk Yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) Marvels, Part Two A collection of tales of the Three Kingdoms period, compiled by Iryeon, a monk of Goryeo. He gathered the stories the official histories had cast aside. It is the oldest book that carries the myth of Dangun.
1The First Time Seon and Doctrine Were Taught Together
景哀王第五十五景哀王即位同光二年甲辰二月十九日,皇龍寺說百座說經.兼飯禪僧三百,大王親行香致供.此百座通說禪教之始.
King Gyeongae.
The fifty-fifth king, King Gyeongae, ascended the throne in the second year of Tongguang, the year gapjin. On the nineteenth day of the second month, the Assembly of One Hundred Seats was held at Hwangnyongsa and the sutras were expounded.
At the same time three hundred Seon monks were given a meal, and the great king himself offered incense and made the offering.
This Assembly of One Hundred Seats was the first time that Seon and Doctrine were taught together.
