1People who say that killing with one's own hand brings blessing
又從波斯國。北行十日入山至大𥦽國。彼王住不本國。見向小拂臨國住也。為打得彼國。彼國復居山島。處所極窂。為此就彼。土地出駝騾羊馬疊布毛𣮓。亦有寶物。衣著細疊寬衫。衫上又披一疊布。以為上服。王及百姓衣服。一種無別。女人亦著寬衫。男人剪髮在鬚。女人在髮。喫食無問貴賤。與同一盆而食。手把亦匙箸。取見極惡。云自手殺而食。得福無量。國人愛殺事天。不識佛法。國法無有跪拜法也
Again from the country of Persia I went north for ten days, and going into the mountains I reached the country of the Arabs (大𥦽國). That king does not live in his own country. He is now staying in the country of Sobullim (小拂臨國), that is Lesser Byzantium. It is because he struck that country and took it, and because that country lies on a mountain island and the place is very strong, he went there.
The land yields camels, mules, sheep, horses, wool cloth and wool blankets, and there are treasures as well. They wear a loose shirt of fine wool cloth, and over the shirt they throw another length of wool cloth for an outer garment. The clothing of the king and of the people is of one kind, with no difference. The women too wear loose shirts. The men cut their hair but let their beards grow, and the women let their hair grow.
When they eat, they make no distinction of high or low, but eat together from one bowl. They grasp the food with their hands. They have spoons and chopsticks as well, but it is very ugly to see. They say that to kill with one's own hand and eat brings blessing beyond measure.
The people of the country love to kill. They serve Heaven and do not know the Law of the Buddha. In the law of the country there is no kneeling and bowing.
