The Country of Zhinapudi
The country of Zhinapudi is more than two thousand li around. The great capital city of the country is fourteen or fifteen li around. What is sown and reaped grows thick and lush, but fruit trees are few and thinly set. The households on the registers are at ease in their work, and the means of the country are ample. The climate is warm and hot, and the customs are timid and weak. Their learning takes in both the true and the worldly, and their belief holds both the false and the right. There are ten monasteries and eight temples of the gods.
2The Fief of the Man of Han
Long ago, when King Jianisejia ruled the world, his name shook the neighboring countries and his majesty reached to other customs, and the vassal lands west of the river feared his majesty and sent hostages. When King Jianisejia had received the hostage prince, his rewards and treatment of him were generous. He changed his lodging with the three seasons, and troops of the four kinds guarded him. This country is where the hostage lived in winter, and so it is called Zhinapudi. Because it was where the hostage lived, it was made the name of the country. From this border on into the lands of India there were no pears or peaches in the soil, and the hostage planted them. For this reason the peach is called zhinani and the pear is called zhinaluoshefudaluo. Therefore the people of this country deeply honor the land of the east, and they point to one another and say, "That man is from the home country of our former king."

3The Monastery of Damosufana
Going more than five hundred li southeast of the great city, one comes to the monastery of Damosufana. There are more than three hundred monks, and they study the Sarvastivada school. The bearing of the assembly is solemn and grave, their virtue and conduct are pure and lofty, and they have searched out the learning of the Lesser Vehicle especially widely. The thousand Buddhas of this good kalpa all gather the hosts of gods and men in this land and expound the deep and wondrous Law. In the three hundredth year after Sakyamuni the Tathagata entered nirvana, the master of treatises Jiaduoyanna made the Fazhi lun here. In the monastery of the Dark Forest there is a stupa more than two hundred feet high, built by King Wuyou. Beside it is the place with the traces left where the four Buddhas of the past sat and walked. Small stupas and great stone chambers lie in rows like fish scales facing one another, and their number is not known in detail. All of them are places where holy men of various fruits have entered extinction since the beginning of the kalpa, and they are hard to list one by one, and their teeth and bones are still there. The monastery that rings the mountain is twenty li around, and the stupas holding relics of the Buddha are several hundreds and thousands, their corners joined and their shadows touching.
