Da Tang Xiyu Ji (Great Tang Records on the Western Regions) Book 11 The record Xuanzang laid before Emperor Taizong of the Tang after seventeen years of walking through the Western Regions and India, a hundred and thirty-eight countries in all. It is the stuff from which Journey to the West was made, but what stands here is not monsters — it is the compass and the climate and the speech and the faith of one country after another. The road runs two hundred years after Faxian and eighty years before Hyecho.

The country of Juzheluo is more than five thousand li around. The great capital city of the country is called Piluomoluo, and it is more than thirty li around. What the soil suits and the customs are the same as in the country of Sulacha. The people who live there are many and thriving, and their households are rich. They serve the ways of others much and believe little in the Law of the Buddha. There is one monastery with more than a hundred monks, and they study the Sarvastivada school of the Law and teaching of the Lesser Vehicle. The temples of the gods are several tens, and followers of other ways live mixed among them. The king is of the Kshatriya stock. He is about twenty years old, and his wisdom and his courage are high and far-reaching. He believes deeply in the Law of the Buddha and holds rare ability in high esteem.

從此東南行二千八百餘里,至鄔阇衍那國。

Going southeast from here more than two thousand eight hundred li, one comes to the country of Wusheyanna.
