The country of Huo is old land of the country of Duhuoluo, and it is more than two thousand li around. The great capital city of the country is more than twenty li around. It has no ruler of its own, and it is subject to the Turks. The land is level and flat, grain is sown in its season, grass and trees grow thick, and flowers and fruits are many all around. The seasons are mild and open, and the customs are simple and plain. The nature of the people is hasty and hot, and for clothing they wear felt and woolen cloth. They mostly believe in the Three Jewels, and they serve the many gods little. There are more than ten monasteries and several hundred monks, and they work at both the Greater Vehicle and the Lesser Vehicle and study them side by side. Their king is a Turk, and he governs the small countries south of the Iron Gate. He moves and settles like a bird, and he does not keep his town in one place.
2The Onion Range
From here one goes east and enters the Onion Range. The Onion Range lies at the middle of the continent of Shanbu. On the south it touches the Great Snow Mountains, on the north it reaches the Hot Sea and the Thousand Springs, on the west it reaches the country of Huo, and on the east it reaches the country of Wusha, and it is several thousand li across from east to west and from north to south. Its cliffs and ridges are hundreds of folds deep, its hidden valleys are steep and dangerous, water and snow lie there always, and the cold wind is strong and harsh. Onions grow there in plenty, and so it is called the Onion Range. The mountain cliffs are green as onions as well, and by that too it was named.
東行百餘里,至瞢健國。
Going east more than a hundred li, one reaches the country of Mengjian.
