The Country of Heluohu曷邏胡國
Da Tang Xiyu Ji (Great Tang Records on the Western Regions) Book 12 The record Xuanzang laid before Emperor Taizong of the Tang after seventeen years of walking through the Western Regions and India, a hundred and thirty-eight countries in all. It is the stuff from which Journey to the West was made, but what stands here is not monsters — it is the compass and the climate and the speech and the faith of one country after another. The road runs two hundred years after Faxian and eighty years before Hyecho.
曷邏胡國，睹貨邏國故地也，北臨縛芻河，周二百餘里。國大都城周十四五里。土宜風俗，大同活國。
The country of Heluohu is the old land of the country of Duhuoluo. On the north it comes down to the Fuchu river, and it is more than two hundred li around. The great capital city of the country is fourteen or fifteen li around. What the soil suits and the customs are much the same as in the country of Huo.
從瞢健國東逾峻嶺，越洞谷，歷數川城，行三百餘里，至訖栗瑟摩國。
From the country of Mengjian one goes east over steep ridges and through hollow valleys, past several rivers and walled towns, and after more than three hundred li one comes to the country of Qilisema.
