Interlinear notes 1
The Tangshu says, "Suzong in his youth was invested as the Prince of Zhong." The Segi, written by Hong Gwan, an academician of this dynasty, says, "The Prince of Zhong of Tang roamed on Mount Songak, did reverence to the eight true immortals, and lodged at the house of the layman Boyuk in Yangjadong." Then it is clear that Suzong came and roamed here. And the Bongi says, "The Dragon King said to Gyeonggang, 'Do you wish to go west to great Tang and see the Son of Heaven, your father?'" So the wonder of it was shown already. Those who make a difficulty of it because the Tangshu has no plain text for it go too far. Besides, how should the historians of Tang have set down in the writing of the state that the heir apparent roamed in a foreign country in secret? That there is no plain text is only what reason would have.

His taboo name was Hogyeong (虎景), and he is the Heavenly King of Mount Guryong today. At the first he led nine men from Mount Baekdu and came hunting. On the hunt they slept in a cave in the mountain, and a tiger came and roared and would not go away. The ten men talked it over and said, "There must be a reason for this," and each threw in a piece of his clothing, and the tiger took the general's clothes. When the general went out the cave fell in, and the nine men were buried together. The tiger changed into a woman and said, "I live alone on this mountain, and I would rule the government of the spirits together with you." So they married and became spirits. From this he was named Hogyeong, and the mountain was named Guryong. It seems he was in origin a spirit of the mountain.

It is the Heavenly King of Mount Jiri.
In common speech millet (穄) is called wang, and it means the raising up of the royal work. The historian says, "From of old it is an old thing for a sage not to be bound to his own clan but to set up a surname by his virtue. Emperor Shun was of the Yao at the root, but he rose by the waters of Guirui and his surname became Gui. Guanggeng was of the Meng at the root, but he pointed to the plum tree and made it his surname. Confucius was of the Zi at the root, but his mother was moved by a swallow, and he took brightness as well and made it Kong (孔). Is it so now as well?"
