He washes and gains three noble children禊祓三貴子

Then he said, "The upper shallows run swift, and the lower shallows run weak." So he went down into the middle shallows and washed himself. The gods that came into being then were named Yasomagatsuhi no Kami (八十禍津日神), and next Ōmagatsuhi no Kami (大禍津日神). These two gods came into being from the filth he took on when he went to that unclean land.

Next, to set right that evil, gods came into being named Kamunaobi no Kami (神直毗神), next Ōnaobi no Kami (大直毗神), next Izunome (伊豆能賣).

Next, when he washed at the bottom of the water, the gods that came into being were named Sokotsuwatatsumi no Kami (底津綿津見神) and next Sokotsutsunoo no Mikoto (底筒之男命). When he washed in the middle of the water, the gods that came into being were named Nakatsuwatatsumi no Kami (中津綿津見神) and next Nakatsutsunoo no Mikoto (中箇之男命). When he washed at the top of the water, the gods that came into being were named Uwatsuwatatsumi no Kami (上津綿津見神) and next Uwatsutsunoo no Mikoto (上箇之男命).

These three Watatsumi gods are the gods worshipped as ancestral gods by the Azumi no Muraji (阿曇連). Therefore the Azumi no Muraji are the descendants of Utsushihikanasaku no Mikoto (宇都志日金拆命), the son of those Watatsumi gods. Those three gods Sokotsutsunoo no Mikoto, Nakatsutsunoo no Mikoto and Uwatsutsunoo no Mikoto are the great gods of the three shrines of Suminoe (墨江).

Then, when he washed his left eye, the god that came into being was named Amaterasu Ohomikami (天照大御神). When he washed his right eye, the god that came into being was named Tsukuyomi no Mikoto (月讀命). When he washed his nose, the god that came into being was named Takehayasusanoo no Mikoto (建速須佐之男命).

The fourteen gods above, from Yasomagatsuhi no Kami down to Hayasusanoo no Mikoto, are the gods born through the washing of his body.

At this Izanagi no Mikoto rejoiced greatly and said, "I have borne child after child, and at the end I have gained three noble children."

Then he shook the string of jewels at his neck until it rang, and gave it to Amaterasu Ohomikami, saying, "You shall rule Takamanohara." So he entrusted it to her. The name of that string of jewels is Mikuratana no Kami (御倉板擧之神).

Next he said to Tsukuyomi no Mikoto, "You shall rule the land of night." So he entrusted it to him. Next he said to Takehayasusanoo no Mikoto, "You shall rule the sea." So he entrusted it to him.

Each ruled as he had been charged, but Hayasusanoo no Mikoto alone did not rule the land entrusted to him. He wept and wailed — "isachiki" — until his beard was eight hands long and reached down over his chest. He wept so that the green mountains withered into bare mountains, and he wept the rivers and the seas dry. And so the voices of the evil gods filled the land like blowflies, and every kind of calamity broke out.

Izanagi no Ohomikami said to Hayasusanoo no Mikoto, "Why do you not rule the land entrusted to you, but only weep and wail — 'isachiru'?"

He answered, "I weep because I wish to go to my mother's land, Nenokatasukuni (根之堅洲國)."

Izanagi no Ohomikami grew very angry and said, "Then you cannot live in this land!" And he drove him out with a god's driving out.

And so that Izanagi no Ohokami dwells at Taga (多賀) in Ōmi (淡海).
