Samguk Sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) Annals of Silla The oldest surviving history of Korea. It is made up of the annals of Silla, Goguryeo and Baekje, together with the treatises, the tables and the biographies. Kim Busik set his own judgments here and there in passages marked as his comment, so what the compiler doubted and what he rebuked stands there still.

1Beolhyu Isageum ascends the throne

伐休尼師今立。姓昔,脫解王子仇鄒角干之子也。母姓金氏,只珍內禮夫人。阿達羅薨,無子,國人立之。王占風雲,預知水旱及年之豊儉,又知人邪正,人謂之聖。

Beolhyu Isageum ascended the throne. His surname was Seok, and he was the son of Guchu Gakgan, who was a son of King Talhae. His mother was of the house of Kim, Lady Jijin Naerye. Adalla had died without a son, so the people of the country raised him up.

The king read the wind and the clouds and knew beforehand of flood and drought and whether the year would be full or lean, and he could tell a crooked man from an upright one, so the people called him a sage.
