Heulhae Isageum ascended the throne. He was a grandson of King Naehae. His father was Uro Gakgan, and his mother was

元夫人,助賁王女也。于老事君有功,累爲舒弗邯。見訖解狀貌俊異,心膽明敏,爲事異於常流,乃謂諸侯曰:「興吾家者,必此兒也。」至是,基臨薨,無子,群臣議曰:「訖解幼有老成之德。」乃奉立之。
Lady Myeongwon, the daughter of King Jobun. Uro had served his king with merit and had been made seobulhan several times. He saw that Heulhae was fine and uncommon in form, that his mind and his nerve were bright and quick, and that what he did was unlike the common run, and he said to the nobles, "The one who will raise up our house is surely this child."
When the time came and Girim died without a son, the officials talked it over. "Heulhae is young, but he has the virtue of a settled old man." So they took him up and set him on the throne.
3Second year — Geumni is given charge of what matters in government
二年,春正月,以急利爲阿飡,委以政要,兼知內外兵馬事。二月,親祀始祖廟。
In the second year, in spring, the first month, Geumni was made achan and given charge of what mattered in the government, and of military affairs within and without as well. In the second month he sacrificed in person at the shrine of the founder.
4Third year — the king of Wa asks a marriage for his son
三年,春三月,倭國王遣使,爲子求婚,以阿飡急利女送之。
In the third year, in spring, the third month, the king of the state of Wa (倭國) sent an envoy asking a marriage for his son, so the daughter of the achan Geumni was sent.
5Fourth year — the hungry people are relieved
四年,秋七月,旱、蝗。民飢,發使救恤之。
In the fourth year, in autumn, the seventh month, there was drought and there were locusts. The people went hungry, so envoys were sent to relieve them.
6Fifth year — the work on the palace is stopped
五年,春正月,拜阿飡急利爲伊飡。二月,重修宮闕,不雨,乃止。
In the fifth year, in spring, the first month, the achan Geumni was made ichan. In the second month the palace was to be built anew, but no rain fell, and so the work was stopped.
7Eighth year — he looks into the prisoners himself
八年,春夏旱,王親錄囚,多原之。
In the eighth year there was drought in spring and summer. The king looked into the prisoners himself and pardoned many of them.
8Ninth year — work that wearies the people is halted
九年,春二月,下令:向以旱災,年不順成,今則土膏脉起,農事方始,凡所勞民之事,皆停之。
In the ninth year, in spring, the second month, an order went out: "Of late, through the drought, the year did not ripen as it should. Now the rich breath of the earth is rising and the farming is just beginning, so let every work that wearies the people be halted."
9Twenty-first year — Byeokgolji is opened
二十一年,始開碧骨池,岸長一千八百步。
In the twenty-first year Byeokgolji (碧骨池) was opened for the first time, and its bank was one thousand eight hundred bo long.
10Twenty-eighth year — an envoy is sent to Baekje
二十八年,春二月,遣使聘百濟。三月,雨雹。夏四月,隕霜。
In the twenty-eighth year, in spring, the second month, an envoy was sent to visit Baekje. In the third month hail fell. In summer, the fourth month, frost fell.
11Thirty-fifth year — the marriage asked by the state of Wa is declined
三十五年,春二月,倭國遣使請婚,辭以女旣出
In the thirty-fifth year, in spring, the second month, the state of Wa (倭國) sent an envoy to ask for a marriage. Since the daughter had already been married,

嫁。夏四月,暴風拔宮南大樹。
the request was declined. In summer, the fourth month, a fierce wind blew and tore up the great tree south of the palace.
13Thirty-sixth year — the king of Wa sends a letter breaking off relations
三十六年,春正月,拜康世爲伊伐飡。二月,倭王移書絶交。
In the thirty-sixth year, in spring, the first month, Gangse was made ibeolchan. In the second month the king of Wa (倭王) sent a letter and broke off relations.
14Thirty-seventh year — Wa troops strike hard at Geumseong
三十七年,倭兵猝至風島,抄掠邊戶,又進圍金城急攻。王欲出兵相戰,伊伐飡康世曰:「賊遠至,其鋒不可當,不若緩之,待其師老。」王然之。閉門不出。賊食盡將退,命康世率勁騎追擊,走之。
In the thirty-seventh year Wa troops (倭兵) came all at once to Pungdo, plundered the houses along the border, and went on to surround Geumseong and strike it hard. The king wished to send out troops and meet them in battle, but the ibeolchan Gangse said, "The enemy have come from far off, and their edge cannot be met. Better to hold back and wait until their army wearies." The king held this right and kept the gates shut and did not go out.
The enemy ran out of food and were about to withdraw, so Gangse was ordered to lead hard horsemen, chase them, strike them, and drive them off.
15Thirty-ninth year — the palace well overflows
三十九年,宮井水暴溢。
In the thirty-ninth year the water of the well inside the palace overflowed all at once.
16Forty-first year — a stork nests at the corner of Wolseong
四十一年,春三月,鸛巢月城隅。夏四月,大雨浹

18Forty-seventh year — the king dies
