In the twenty-fourth year, the king of Yan sent an envoy into Wei to offer tribute, and asked to send a son to attend the court as hostage. The lord of Wei did not allow it, and was about to send out soldiers and punish him, and he sent an envoy to tell Goguryeo of it and instruct them.
In summer, the fourth month, Wei attacked the fortress of Bailang in Yan and won it. The king sent the generals Gallo and Maenggwang with a host of tens of thousands to follow Yang Yi to Helong and receive the king of Yan. Gallo and Maenggwang came into the fortress and ordered the soldiers to strip off their worn clothes, and had the fine weapons of the armory of Yan brought out and given to them, and they plundered greatly inside the fortress.
