Samguk Sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) Annals of Baekje The oldest surviving history of Korea. It is made up of the annals of Silla, Goguryeo and Baekje, together with the treatises, the tables and the biographies. Kim Busik set his own judgments here and there in passages marked as his comment, so what the compiler doubted and what he rebuked stands there still.

1King Chimnyu ascends the throne

枕流王,近仇首王之元子,母曰阿尒夫人,繼父卽位。秋七月,遣使入晉朝貢。九月,胡僧摩羅難陁自晉至,王迎之,致宮內,禮敬焉。佛法始於此。

King Chimnyu (枕流王) was the eldest son of King Geungusu, and his mother was Lady Ai. He followed his father and ascended the throne.

In autumn, the seventh month, an envoy was sent into Jin to offer tribute. In the ninth month Marananta, a monk from the barbarian lands, came from Jin, and the king met him and brought him into the palace and honored him with rites. The law of the Buddha began from this.

2The second year — King Chimnyu dies

二年,春二月,創佛寺於漢山,度僧十人。冬十一月,王薨。

In the second year, in spring, the second month, a Buddhist temple was founded at Hansan, and ten men were made monks. In winter, the eleventh month, the king died.
