Wang Ocheonchukguk Jeon (Memoir of the Pilgrimage to the Five Regions of India) Complete in one volume The travel record of Hyecho, a monk of Silla, who at about twenty walked forty countries of India and the Western Regions and set down what he saw. It was lost for more than a thousand years and was found again in 1908 in the caves of Dunhuang, as a damaged scroll. Five poems in five-word lines, longing for home, are carried in it.

又從疎勒東行一月。至龜茲國。即是安西大都護府。漢國兵馬大都集處。此龜茲國。足寺足僧。行小乘法。食肉及葱韮等也。漢僧行大乘法
Again from Kashgar I went east for a month and reached Kucha (龜茲國). This is the Great Protectorate of Anxi (安西大都護府), the great gathering place of the troops of Han. In this country of Kucha there are many monasteries and many monks, and they practise the Law of the Lesser Vehicle. They eat meat, onions, leeks and the like. The monks of Han practise the Law of the Great Vehicle.
