Da Tang Xiyu Ji (Great Tang Records on the Western Regions) Book 12 The record Xuanzang laid before Emperor Taizong of the Tang after seventeen years of walking through the Western Regions and India, a hundred and thirty-eight countries in all. It is the stuff from which Journey to the West was made, but what stands here is not monsters — it is the compass and the climate and the speech and the faith of one country after another. The road runs two hundred years after Faxian and eighty years before Hyecho.
The country of Yinbojian is the old land of the country of Duhuoluo, and it is more than a thousand li around. The great capital city of the country is more than ten li around. Mountains and ridges join one to another, and the river plains and the fields are narrow. What the land brings forth, what the climate suits, and the differences in the nature of the people are the same as in Boduochuangna. Only the speech differs a little. The king is harsh and violent in nature, and he does not tell good from evil.
從此東南,逾嶺越谷,峽路危險,行三百餘里,至屈浪拿國。
From here one goes southeast over ridges and through valleys, and the path through the gorge is dangerous and steep. After more than three hundred li one comes to the country of Qulangna.
